Introduction
According to the NHS, one in four adults is at risk of mental illness. Despite these statistics, mental health is still seen as a taboo subject. This way of thinking needs to change, as a society we need to hold our mental wellbeing to the same standard as our physical wellbeing. Studying this Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness will increase your ability to handle sensitive conversations and provide the appropriate support to those around you.
Even if you have been unfortunate enough to experience mental health issues yourself, there is no way to know how it may be affecting others. There are important conversations we should be having with each other, but we need to know how to approach them. Through the skills learnt in this course, you will be well equipped to face these conversations with confidence. Having the ability to participate in open discussion regarding mental health is a valuable skill. Through each module of this course you will increase your comprehension on what mental health struggles mean, what they can look like and how to improve mental wellbeing.

Regardless of the industry you work in, being able to approach such a sensitive subject is a valuable skill. Anyone can be affected by poor mental health, and there already an existing stigma around discussing our feelings, especially if they aren’t all smooth sailing. At the College of Contract Management we understand that these discussions need to happen. Therefore we offer this Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness to ensure that you are equipped to handle these conversations appropriately and effectively.
Through these live online sessions you will explore the three key areas of mental health awareness. You will start the course by exploring what is meant by the term mental health. You will discuss the impact poor mental health can have on an individual and explore the cultural attitudes towards both positive and poor mental well-being. In your second module you will learn how to recognise a variety of mental health conditions. Following this you will discuss treatments available for the conditions you have learnt about.
