Introduction
Risk Management itself is an umbrella term, covering multiple potential factors that can have a negative outcome on your business. Most commonly, people associate risk management as working to prevent harm to employees from potential hazards. However, this is not the only risk you need to be aware of. Business risk management extends beyond physical hazards and focuses on the any potential risks to the business operations. It is a particular subset of risk that looks at systems and processes and evaluates potential harm and best practice.
Business risk tends to have four key formats: strategic, compliance, operational and reputational. Unfortunately, none of the four are easily avoided. Therefore, having a strong business risk management professional is a valuable asset to any organisation. With the correct training, although you may not be able to completely eliminate risks, you can greatly reduce their impact. Furthermore, with the right skillset, you will be able to identify potential risks at an early stage, allowing time for prevention or preparation.
Business Risk Management at The College of Contract Management
When speaking about risk management, the common thought process is to think about physically demanding roles. However, its equally important to consider business risk management. Working in an office environment isn’t without risk. There are multiple potential risks when working in business, and as with any other setting, they need to be managed effectively.
Within each of the six modules of this Level 7 Diploma in Risk Management we will discuss the principles, strategies and responses of potential risks that you may face. We want our lectures to be as accessible as possible. Therefore, our lectures are delivered online via the use of interactive screenshare technology. We have enlisted a team of lecturers, each with their own extensive background of experience.
